The sonic booster might be used to aid in a Gallifreyan's regeneration in a process similar to Lazarus's Genetic Manipulation Device, which used resonances from hypersonic waves to destabilize the user's cells for regeneration. In an emergency it can be modified into a omni-directional sonic weapon.
